What is Paint Protection film?
Paint protection film goes by many names. The most common names are Clear Mask, Clear Bra, and PPF which is short for paint protection film. Paint protection film is a clear-coated polyurethane film designed to adhere to your vehicles paint. The purpose of this product is to protect your vehicle from damage such as rock chips, scuffs, and scratches. Paint Protection film is semi-permanent film that can be removed if damaged and replaced without any damage to the vehicle. Paint Protection film can be installed at anytime but is best when the car is new as a preventative measure against chips, scratches or other damage.

Paint Protection Film has come along way over the years. Originally when paint protection film was first released there were many known problems such as it becoming discolored over time (yellowing), the material cracking, and being an eyesore. This was caused by the UV inhibitor that was embeded in the film. The films we use do not have these issues as they do not have the UV inhibitor in them. Another benefit of not having the UV inhibitor in it is that your vehicles paint will fade evenly over time so if and when the film is ever removed it will look as good as new.

Process
The first step to installing PPF is the prep work. To ensure the best adhesion and longevity of the film, ample prep work to the surfaces being covered is needed. The first step is to make sure there are no contaminants on the surface of the vehicle. This is done by washing the areas being covered and then going over the surface with a clay bar to ensure a smooth surface free of any contaminants. This removes tree sap, bugs, or any dirt or grime built up on your vehicle. The next step would be to dry the surfaces after to ensure the surface is completely clean before install. Once the area is prepped we can install the PPF material with isopropyl alcohol and solution of soap and water. The material is formed to your vehicle’s surface and then all the moisture is squeegeed out. Once the material is fitted we wrap it in the areas that can be wrapped like under your hood to prevent any damage to the painted edges, we take the time to wrap the edges on applicable ares for maximum protection. We utilize Xpel’s DAP software which is the world's largest & most comprehensive pattern repository with 80,000+ real-time paint, headlamp and window tint patterns. By utilizing Xpel’s DAP program our paint protection film is computer cut to ensure a precise fitment to protect your vehicle accurately.

Removal
When it comes to removing an old or damaged clear mask, please make an appointment to have as look at it in person. Removals can very in time and price due to age and quality of previous material.
Care Instructions
Once your film is installed, you may notice some moisture or bubbles under the material. This is normal, and it is important that you do not touch them or mess with them in anyway.
If you can please do not place the area that was worked on in direct sunlight for a full day. We know this is not always feasible, but this helps the moisture from not evaporating out too quickly. If the moisture dries out too quickly it create a void or air pocket. These can usually be fixed so please do not disturb it and contact us to fix it.
Do not wash the outside of your car for two weeks after install. The material is still curing for that amount of time and the pressure from the pressure washers can peal the film back or blow water under the material which then turns into an air pocket. You can hand wash your car, just do not use a pressure washer ever on or around the material.
Avoid using a pressure washer or high-pressure water source near the edges of the film, it can cause the film to lift and/or become damaged. It is recommended to ensure that the pressure washer is 36in away from the film.
Light scratches in the film will self-heal in 20-30 minutes at room temperature. In colder conditions, or to accelerate the process, pour warm water (120°F) over the affected area.
Stubborn stains can be removed with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Take care to keep these chemicals off the vehicle’s paint.
We recommend that you use a spray wax on your clear mask as often as possible to help protect it and keep it clean.
Remove insect or other stains as soon as possible, the PPF film is just like your clear coat on your paint. If these things are not addressed in a reasonable amount of time they can etch themselves in the material permanently.
